Copper Knight was fit and ready to roll on Friday night having already had two runs this season so there were no concerns about his fitness going into the race. The only slight doubt was the track, as it was his first start on an all-weather surface and not all horses take to it equally.
Copper Knight has always been a quick starter from the stalls and this race was no exception, he broke quickly from the stalls and lead from the very early stages. The all-weather surface proved to be no problem at all, he took to it like a duck to water. Dave Allen was in control of the race from there and was able to dictate the fractions leaving some very talented horses struggling to get into the race at all. The race was put to bed inside the final furlong as Copper Knight stretched out to win by a length-and-three-quarters.
This win was massive for the syndicate and not least for the publicity it has brought the syndicate, courtesy of national television coverage from ITV Racing. Copper Knight has been a great racehorse for connections, and he has now provided us with an evening that will live long in the memory of the syndicate.
