FAQs

What Is Covered In The Upfront Cost?

When we price the horse we take into account the following:
  • Hammer price of the horse.
  • The commission the sales house adds.
  • Transport from the sales house.
  • Vets bills.
  • Trainers fees until the stated start date.
  • BHA registration fees.
  • Ventura Racing commission, to cover our costs for the sales.
This is why the cost of our horses can appear much higher than the hammer price on the sales website. We are committed to trying to provide the best value for our owners, so we don't add any unnecessary fees.

What Is Covered In The Monthly Fees?

The monthly fee (or Training Fees) covers a variety of things from the training and care of the horse to race day costs and a small management fee for ourselves. We build everything into our monthly fees, so you don’t have to worry. It doesn’t seem right for you to pay a monthly fee then be sent a bill every time your horse runs.

Why Do Your Training Fees Change From Horse To Horse?

Our training fees change depending on who trains the horse. Trainers have different day rates, and that is reflected in our training fees.

How Long Is The Contract?

Our typical contract lasts for 12 months. After your initial 12 months, you may choose to continue in the syndicate, and things proceed as usual. Or you may decide to return your shares and stop the monthly training fees.

Who Buys the Horses?

We purchase the horse in conjunction with the trainers. They have to love the horse from the start if they are going to train them for us.

Where did the name Ventura Racing come from?

Ventura Racing was named in honour of Tom’s Grandad, who is partly responsible for getting Tom into racing. Ventura has special meaning, and you will often see horse carrying the Ventura name that were named by Tom’s Grandad.

Can I Take friends and family to the races?

Of course you can! You get guaranteed badges based on the share size you own, to use however you wish. But if that’s not enough will try and accommodate any requests for additional badges. We can’t promise we will always be able to get further badges, but we will endeavour to do so.

What Other Costs Are Involved?

We try to keep everything as transparent as possible. The only Time would potentially ask for any further contribution would be if the horse was running regularly in Group races or abroad. And let’s face it we would love to be in that situation.

Do I Get A Share Of The Prize Money?

Absolutely! We give our owners 100% of the money the horse wins. We don’t think it would be right for us to take a cut of your winnings, so we don’t.
