Sex: Colt
Age: 2
Colour: Bay
We are delighted to offer this smashing Gutaifan colt out of a Galileo's Star. This colt was purchased at Tattersalls book 3 but he doesn't look like a book 3 purchase! We put together a shortlist of horses with David Lanigan and ex-jockey turned bloodstock agent, Ted Durcan. Our aim was to find an early looking sprinting 2yr old. We sat and watched as the first that two horses to make the shortlist made upwards of 40,000gns. We always thought this colt would be our best chance as he was later in the day when horses can drop for less than what they should.
Our colt is by the new sire Gutaifan who has seen plenty of supporters with his first crop through the sales ring. The average price of a colt, by Gutaifan has been over £42,000. As a racehorse, Gutaifan was the very definition of precocious. He won 4 of his 7 starts including the Group 2 Flying Childers Stakes in record time and the Prix Robert Papin at Longchamp. His progeny look like they will be some of the first to make the track next year and it looks like he could be set for a successful first season.
Galileo's Star is an early new mare having produced only 5 horses to date including our own colt. all of her progeny of racing age (4) have made the track, our yearling is the first colt she has produced. She is by Galileo out of a US mare from the family of the Champion Azamour. There are not many better sires of mares than the legend that is Galileo. On the track, Galileo's Star was placed in the listed Stan James Washington Singer Stakes at Newbury, as a 2-year-old. She was then sold to the USA where she competed in both a Grade 1 and Grade 2, finishing 4th in both.
This colt has been very straightforward since arriving at Davids yard and we would expect to see him out early next year. We are very pleased to get such a racy looking Gutaifan colt for such a reasonable price.
